A Patient's Viewpoint

It was during the height of the Covid pandemic in 2020 that I started taking Lorazepam. Anxiety had started to rule my life. I felt like a shadow of the person I’d been before. I didn’t recognise myself when I looked in the mirror. I started stuttering and refused to leave the house, regardless of the latest advice regarding protecting myself from contracting Covid.

I felt bettery doctor had warned me that I would need to taper off rather than simply quitting but I’d only been taking them for 9 months and didn’t feel they’d helped me anyway, despite increasing my dose twice.

I stopped taking them at New Year as a resolution. By the end of January, I’d been admitted to hospital twice and visited ER six times. I couldn’t work, I couldn’t’ sleep. My sister-in-law recommended Dr Valsa Madhava. She immediately started me on Valium and once I felt able, we agreed a plan to taper me off it.

One of the best things I found in my experience with Dr Valsa Madhava was her intent to find out if there were any issues that would prevent me from succeeding. She carried out numerous tests and recommended supplements to address a low adrenal function.

I’m now able to get a healthy amount of sleep, I feel much more stable and have recently returned to work after 3 and a half months. I’m still slowly tapering off the Valium but I’m feeling healthier and more self-confident than I have in years.
